Frequently Asked Questions

Read through our FAQs to determine if the Metabolic Transformation Program is right for you.

  • Metabolic health refers to how efficiently your body regulates energy, blood sugar, hormones and fat storage. These processes can also affect things like blood pressure, blood cholesterol and where the body distributes fat. People with good metabolic health generally have lower risk for heart disease, diabetes and other metabolic outcomes.

  • After a comprehensive medical evaluation and metabolic analysis, you’ll receive a personalized plan that addresses your biological obstacles to weight loss.

Working with your doctor, you’ll uncover habits to be successful long-term and feel empowered to continue making progress.

  • We’re not just concerned with weight loss. The Metabolic Transformation Program is intended to address the underlying chronic medical conditions that accompany obesity. We’re concerned with how significant weight loss improves these conditions and helps people move toward overall health and longevity.

  • This program is for you if

    • You are concerned about addressing your health and investigating the behaviors and metabolic issues that may be causing weight gain.

    • You value health, strength, energy and longevity—not just the number on the scale.

    • You are looking for sustainable weight loss and are done with crash/fad dieting.

    • You can commit to sticking with consistent habits over 12 months.

    • You are looking for education and accountability—not just a meal plan or an exercise program.

    • You have struggled with metabolic health challenges (type 2 diabetes, blood sugar issues, high cholesterolhigh blood pressure, inflammatory conditions—such as asthma or autoimmune diseases ) in the past and need the guidance of a physician.

  • Yes. Many people who join the program already have metabolic conditions such as PCOS, diabetes, menopause or hypothyroid. These conditions often affect weight, appetite, energy levels and metabolism, so they are an important part of the evaluation and treatment plan. The goal is to support weight loss while also improving the metabolic conditions that often occur alongside it.

  • A realistic weight loss goal depends on your starting weight and individual treatment plan. Many people lose 5–10% of their body weight in the first few months. Even modest weight loss in this range can lead to important health improvements, such as better blood sugar control, lower blood pressure and improved cholesterol levels. With certain medications and comprehensive treatment, patients may lose 15–20% or more over time. Even modest weight loss in this range can lead to important health improvements, including better blood sugar control, lower blood pressure and improved cholesterol levels.

Medication selection will be based on shared decision making between you and the doctor. We’ll review the medication safety profile at the beginning, and we’ll also consider cost—what you’re covered for and what you can afford will be a big component of what we decide together.

  • At the start of the program, we will create a personalized care plan that fits with your schedule and can be adjusted as needed throughout your journey.

This program is designed with high-touch support to help you navigate your journey and achieve lasting success. We do expect that you participate in the biweekly visits consistently.

Most of our clients are busy professionals with family commitments. Success in this program is strengthened by your willingness to participate and readiness to change.

  • Anti-obesity medications are safe and effective. Several options exist. The doctor will decide which medication is appropriate based on your medical history, weight journey and insurance coverage. We prescribe the following medications: Wegovy (Semaglutide), Zepbound (Tirzepatide), Saxenda (Liraglutide) Qsymia (Phentermine/Topiramate), Contrave (Buproprion/Naltrexone), Phentermine and more.

Medication selection will be based on shared decision making between you and the doctor, who will assess you to see which medication might be right for you. We’ll review the medication safety profile at your first visit, and we’ll also consider cost—what you’re covered for and what you can afford will be a big component of what we decide together.

  • Participants who choose not to use medication may have different outcomes than those who do. For some people, medications can make weight loss easier by helping to regulate appetite and cravings. If you prefer not to use medication, we will tailor the program to focus on nutrition and lifestyle strategies.

  • We’ll work with you to come up with an individualized plan that takes into account your dietary restrictions and preferences to help you with metabolic success. Everything here is individually driven. We’ll account for your cultural or dietary preferences and your underlying health status. Ultimately, the best eating pattern is the one that you can stick to long term.

  • We’ll assess your level of physical activity and factor in injuries or mobility issues as we design your custom plan. Sometimes participants feel better or more able to move after they’ve lost some weight, which, in turn, allows them to increase their physical activity level. We will monitor your progress and adjust your activity levels as needed throughout the program.

We understand that you may be coming into this with a very limited or sedentary activity level, or with pain and limited mobility. We’ll work with you to increase your level of physical activity in a way that feels achievable and safe.

  • Evidence shows that frequent follow-ups and multiple touch-points are directly tied to weight loss success. Because of this, a 12-month commitment is strongly recommended. We suggest that you consider whether the timing is optimal for you to fully participate in the program before joining.

We also recognize that this program might not be a perfect fit for everyone, so participants have the option to discontinue after three months.

  • This is a common problem. Here’s the truth: motivation can fluctuate, which makes consistency challenging. Through the program, we help you build habits that are realistic and sustainable, so even if progress is slower at times, you can continue moving toward your goals with support. Over time, these actions build habits that make progress easier even when motivation dips.

  • We get it—many people who come to us feel like they’ve tried it all. Our approach recognizes that obesity is a challenging disease that requires long-term care and follow up. Evidence tells us that programs that include medication, habit change and ongoing support are the most successful.

We also can’t emphasize this enough: Patient readiness to change is one of the biggest predictors of success. If you start before you are ready, it can be more difficult to succeed.

  • Studies show that weight maintenance is just as important as weight loss. At the end of the program, we’ll discuss what successful maintenance looks like for you and what options exist for us to continue working together.

  • Our Direct Primary Care membership is a niche program for those who struggle with metabolic health. Participants who graduate from our Metabolic Transformation Program are eligible to continue with us for primary care.

The practice is structured this way on purpose. The Metabolic Transformation program lays the medical and behavioral foundation that we build on in primary care. It ensures that we have a shared understanding of your health history before moving into ongoing care.

This model allows us to provide focused, high-touch care to patients and maintain the standard of care the practice is known for. If you are unsure if the practice is right for you, you are welcome to schedule a consultation to discuss.

  • We are currently serving patients across New York State. New Yorkers who live outside of NYC can participate in the program virtually.
